fanged fact of the day-
vampires don't have to sleep in a coffin. they are
merely the most popular choice because of their ability to
keep out all forms of light. in large covens than operate
outside of human interference, they usually under ground.

personally, i find sleeping in a coffin to be peaceful. not only is light kept out, but so is noise. and with the right charms, it's really comfortable as well. recently i've been sleeping in a normal bed and it's really strange. i've never really enjoyed a mattress that much but it's amazing how appealing they become if it means spending the night with your girlfriend. i don't know that i would ever trade out my coffin for a bed of my own though. i think it'd miss it too much. if you ever just need complete peace and quiet, i'd recommend getting one. there's a store off knock turn alley that actually sells ones set up for vampires, so you wouldn't even have to put effort into the charms and other comfort devices if you aren't the type who enjoys doing it for yourself.

fanged fact of the day-
blood consumption is what keeps vampires healthy. however they are
able to live for months, sometimes years, without eating. this sort of
starvation does drive the vampire to the edge of insanity, so running
into a starving one isn't likely to end well. every october, the month
of the undead, there are several blood drives for vampires!

muggles disagree on origin of halloween. but anyone whose taken history of magic knows that it was, in fact, a magical branch of celtics who began it. though muggle tribes later practiced samhain, they were never fully aware of it's power. samhain was actually an attempt to bring dark spirits from the other realms over to support a tribal war. these dark wizards were never successful in their endeavors but the magic they developed for the ritual is rumored to have had other affects. notably, some magical historians argue that they may have been responsible for the creation of some partial human creatures - zombies or vampires for example! so far none of the claims have been proven but efforts to do so have continued throughout the years. recreation of the ancient magic used during samhain has never been successful either, which is a large part of the research done on this topic. still, it is hard to ignore the magical significance of october 31st to this day.

personally i love hallow's eve, regardless of how it came to be! but the history is intriguing! it is probably my favorite holiday in the whole year. i hope everyone has a great time tonight and remember, when in doubt, put your fangs out!

fanged fact of the day-
the sun is detrimental to the health of a vampire but they do not
instantly burst into flames like many muggle myths would have you
believe. vampires are able to withstand several hours in the sunlight
if necessary but their health starts degrading around the 4th hour
of exposure.

fanged fact of the day / two-
all bats are not vampires. all vampires are not bats. but some
vampires turn into bats. this muggle myth is likely due to the
few vampires that were, in fact, animagi. as a result of the
early confusion of muggles, this form has continued to be the
preferred form of the few vampires able of performing this
level of complex transfiguration.

susan and i are dressing as vampires for the party at the lucky leprechaun. would anyone like to join us? i'd love to have an entire coven there! and i'm really good at transfiguring teeth, too. and i'm planning on bringing blood-pops. it will definitely be a good time. now is a good time to start arranging things so we aren't scrambling last minute.

though, really, it will be a good time regardless.

warded to susan

are you excited for our busy weekend? i am pretty stoked about taking you out twice!

warded to laura, chelsea, and susan

well i know you girls probably have plans with your friends for hogsmeade, but i was hoping we could arrange a short meet-up at least. it seems silly not to have a mini birthday party there considering how your birthday fell this year, laura.

fanged fact of the day-
is on a short hiatus! because an IMPORTANT rushed announcement must be made!*

if you don't know, you should know but it's rather hard to fathom you not knowing: it's october! and that means three very important things are happening this month. the most important is all hallow's eve. why is this important? because it's one of the few holidays that vampires and humans both celebrate! naturally me and my girlfriend will both be dressing as vampires for the occasion. which, as it just so happens, is also my twenty-first birthday. and thirdly, laura's birthday in the day before mine. so... pretty much, the end of october is the best time of the whole year.

i'm excited.

and going to eat some cupcakes now.

fanged fact of the day-
vampires are quite capable of feeling human emotions, despite popular
fiction which sometimes implies that they do not. while love can't be
quantified, a handful of vampires have been known to stick with one mate
for decades. given the longevity of the a typical vampire lifespan it is
very likely such couples are together for more than the purpose of survival.*

the best part of yesterday? the kestrels won their game! it's just too bad it was pouring rain yesterday, otherwise i might have convinced my cute girlfriend to go to the game with me. i gave mum my tickets since i couldn't make it but i did get to hear the ending on the radio and it was brilliant! or at least, what i heard was brilliant. i kind of missed the actual bit where the snitch was caught but nonetheless i'm very pleased. so is my mum. she's so pleased, in fact, that beer is half off all day today and tomorrow at the pub! i'm still wearing my kenmare sweater and think i might have to show up to work in it too.

laura might have become my most favorite sister ever (sorry chelsea). i don't know how your brother did it but lorcan d'eath actually autographing something? i've already framed it and hung it up over my coffin. i've been staring at it every night as i drift to sleep. it's not the same as getting to meet him but it's still pretty brilliant. susan and i are making cupcakes. so i'll be sure to send you some when they're done. and james too.

i wonder if lorcan knows where some covens are? i'd really like to live in one for at least a week!

fanged fact of the day-
the existence of half-breed vampires has never been genetically confirmed.
like veelas and giants, it is generally believed to be possible for vamps
to interbreed with wizards. the characteristics of half-breed vampires are
suspected to be unique to each individual.

SOME OF US have been waiting a lifetime to see a vampire, or even half-breed vampire. good on you, st mungos, for not sharing this information prior to the game. it was nice to release the team rosters in advance, but i suppose it would have been asking to much to see the pre-game entertainment. lorcan d'eath performs so infrequently that not disclosing his appearance was exceptionally cruel.

all the cupcakes in the world will not make me feel better, either. they tasted good though.

fanged fact of the day-
living in a coven is the equivalent for having a family.
while some vampires enjoy being alone, most see the wisdom
in sticking together for reasons of security and companionship. *

the quidditch season is officially beginning. i'm stroked about the first game being held this tuesday and purchased tickets to attend a few weeks ago. sometimes i really miss playing, though, even if it was just for two season at hogwarts. i was thinking it might be fun to play a pick-up match some weekend if there are enough interested casual wanna-bes like me floating around.

i hope there will be plenty of night games held this year. it seems a little unfair that most matches tend to take place in the day time, which is obviously more than a little unfriendly to all of the vampires who might wish to attend. we are wizards, after all, it is possible to light up a stadium in the darker hours.

warded to laura & susan

we're meeting up this week. best times for everyone, go.

(added 20 minuets later) warded to rolf

want to go to the game on tuesday? i have a second ticket.

fanged fact of the day-
part of the reason vampires are able to sneak up on humans
so efficiently is because they don't breathe. you'd be surprised
at how much quieter this makes them become. try it
and hold your breathe sometime! *

i've been delighted with the carnival. there are all kinds of fun booths. it's really too bad that tomorrow is the last day. if you haven't gotten out to enjoy it yet, you should. there are all kinds of things to donate to, too. rebuilding, hogwarts, and other great projects that deserve your charity. the only thing disappointing is the lack of any vampires! i went last night, hoping to see one.

fanged fact of the day-
vampires have reflections and show up in pictures, despite
popular myth that they do not. these inconsistencies are likely
the result of muggles being deceived by magic mirrors in the past. *

transylvania lost yesterday. but since it was to ireland, i can accept this. a little country pride is a good thing, right? mum is offering half-price drinks at the lucky leprechaun all weekend to celebrate if anyone is in need of a cheap pub. i'll be camping this evening but some of the lager is going with me.

i had to call into work today because i feel dreadful. i barely made it to the apothecary to get some potions. they don't feel like they're working yet and i'm not sure i'll be well enough to go swimming tomorrow after all.

but you're more than welcome to come play healer if you still have the time off and aren't afraid of cooties.

i'm afraid i'll have to cancel our saturday night plans. i'm feeling under the weather and don't know if I'll be good company in time for the party.

fanged fact of the day-
bloodshakes were once sold at florean fortescue's ice
cream parlour in diagon alley. while well intentioned,
not a single vampire ever ordered a bloodshake so they
were taken off the menu after only two months. the cause?
fortescue's ice cream palor was never opened past six p.m.*

important announcement;

if you were doing a herbology project worthy of an outstanding what would it be?

and on an unrelated note - what sort of edible items should be in my pantry? apparently cupcakes and tofu are no longer acceptable as the sole source of my diet.

when you have a free moment, could you make some girl's earnings for me? preferably out of some nice flowers but anything plant-related will do. i remember some of the jewelry you use to wear was unique.

fanged fact of the day-
on the topic of churches, holy water, and crucifixes; the
myth that any of these things are effective is just
that, a myth. theses superstitions were the creation
of bishop anthony bartley, who would chase unsuspecting
muggles through their villages at night herding them in
the direction of an abandoned church. the ruse was created
to lure them into the building, where he finally caught his prey. *

did anyone see the early morning prophet? pivot alley has great potential. it'll be nice to see something new. i'm really hoping with all the space that will be added, there will finally be room for an entire shop catering to vampires. it's nice that the candy shops are considerate enough to sell bloodpops but they should really be catered too for all their needs. i'm sure it'd be really nice if they could shop for coffins in the middle of the night without rousing suspicion.

you know what else would be nice for vampires? their own classifieds section in the paper. i’m sure they’d love to be able to sell, buy, and trade unique items. personally i’d love to have a place where i could take out an add for a vampire bride. i inquired at the post office this morning about owl-order brides but the clerk thought i was telling a funny. i’ve never really thought about kids before, but having my very own half-vampire children would be the opportunity of a life time. even better than living in a coven, if you ask me.
